Steven Spielberg’s film has its problems. It anachronistically turns the Gettysburg Address into a poem everyone supposedly memorized. It suggests the North had a fully racially integrated military. It invents Congressman that didn’t exist to vote on the Thirteenth Amendment. And it makes Lincoln look like he’s just fighting a war to end slavery, and not a tool of Wall Street to plunder the New Orleans cotton exchange and the southern plantations who did not want to turn plantations into publicly traded companies. But this review isn’t about all that stuff. At the risk of over-simplifying, this is a one issue review. Click this link here to listen.
